Trees grow anywhere! Pick from this years Yadkin River Cleanup


2006 Yadkin River Cleanup - Final Report

On behalf of every community that depends upon the Yadkin River for its valuable natural resources, and particularly the residents of Wilkes, Surry, Yadkin, Forsyth and Stanly counties who helped out, we want to THANK EVERYONE who participated in this year's record-breaking local effort during National River Cleanup Week. Just take a look at our final results:

May 12 - Roaring River to Ronda
May 13 - Ronda to Elkin
May 15 - Old 421 Park to Shallowford
May 20 - Baden Lake

Miles of river (both sides)
Approximately 27 miles covering parts of 5 different counties!

Volunteers on the river!
Paddlers: 75 men, women & children (boys & girls)
Boats: 51 canoes & kayaks (tandems & singles)

** This collection of agricultural, industrial and urban waste has been permanently removed from our local watershed.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE EVERYONE GET OUT ON THE RIVER, LET US KNOW WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING INTERESTING , AND BY ALL MEANS LET'S KEEP THE TRADITION GOING, SO THAT ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL CONTINUE TO APPRECIATE THIS VALUABLE NATURAL RESOURCE WE CANNOT TAKE FOR GRANTED ANY LONGER!!
